EMPLOYMENT
Peace Corps Counselors-in-Training (7th Grade)
The Peace Corps (Counselor-In-Training) program is a way for 7th graders (or 8th graders who are not yet 14) to volunteer at camp and gain leadership skills. The Peace Corps will have an assigned Counselor who will oversee the group. There will therefore be a $100 fee for each Peace Corps member who is accepted. (Details will be shared with families of those who are accepted; Financial Support is available and your ability to pay should not hinder your application).
The Peace Corps have duties to fulfill each day, and should expect busy days that may include group games and tasks, physical work around the camp, and time working with younger campers. Individual Peace Corps members will rotate between weeks where their focus is helping with a children's tent group, a specialty tent, or a task group. Focus will also be given to group activities that foster skills necessary for working with children, that develop leadership, and that benefit the natural environment. Peace Corps should be ready to participate fully in group activities, be open to meeting new people and trying new experiences, and be excited to be part of making camp a positive and welcoming place for diverse campers, Peace Corps and staff. Peace Corps must be able to attend 4 out of 6 weeks, with June 16-20 (the first week) being one of them.
Peace Corps applications will be open January 22nd - February 15th, with a review of all applicants after the application period has ended. Applicants will be notified of a decision between March 1-15th. We anticipate being able to accept only a third to a half of applicants. Applicants should complete the ENTIRE APPLICATION THEMSELVES. A parents email address may be used if necessary.
